I am a 50-year-old Kiwi bloke living in the Taupo region and am a contractor in my work. I consider myself to have been quite a fit, active guy, who used to run up mountains and hike the bush, ride motorbikes, kite surf, sail, snow ski, dive, go to the gym and play racket sports. I have good social supports with my partner, mum and dad and my mates near me.

My personal medical history is minimal prior to all three Pfizer vaccine. I’m not usually on medications, I have a very minimal alcohol intake, am a non-smoker, eat a fairly well-balanced diet and suffer from no allergies. I’ve maybe had 2 sick days off in my life. I just don’t ever need to take them. I have travelled the world extensively and have enjoyed my physically demanding jobs prior to my vaccine injury.

I remember watching Ashley Bloomfield on TV in the early days encouraging us to do our part. I wouldn’t normally have gone along with getting it, but in my line of work we were considered higher risk, and later mandated. I didn’t not want to be able to travel and I got it thinking I was trying to “do the right thing”.

After the first Pfizer vaccine on the 22nd of July 2021, I had a racing heart and increased energy for a day that made me feel like I’d taken speed or something. I had the second Pfizer vaccine on the 12th of August 2021 after which I developed a large lump under my arm, which resolved on its own.

I had the Booster vaccine on the 24th of January 2022. My lymph gland under my arm swelled again afterwards (slightly smaller than the swelling after the second Pfizer vaccine) and a few days later I started experiencing pain in my muscles all over my body with an old injury flaring up in my shoulder, pain in my neck and bad headaches. The pain was horrible and would keep me up at night waking 2-3 times to pop painkillers. This went on for 2-3 months – I was tired for work and barely able to function. My arms to my fingers were next and felt weak, the same as my legs and there was numbness in my ankles like pins and needles. I had major fatigue, decreased exercise tolerance and shortness of breath. I was barely able to walk without being out of breath. I suffered from brain fog, my brain just didn’t feel right or as sharp as it used to, and I had blurry red eyes and visual disturbances. The boys at work took a photo of me and thought I looked stoned one day. My skin was irritable and itchy, and I have found it difficult not to itch it. I also suffered from nose bleeds, I’ve had them in the past now and then, but have had them more regularly and ongoing since the Booster vaccine.

During these months when in such pain, I went for multiple massages and sessions with my osteopath who had always been able to sort out my pain and sports injuries in the past, (I had a multiple sclerosis type condition about 4 years ago affecting my nerves and muscles and recovered from it) but I got minimal relief from my sore muscles and joint pain from the osteopathic sessions and knew something was not right.

I had talked to my GP twice. My encounter with her was one of disappointment, I felt she turned a blind eye to what was going on with me, like she did not want to know me and avoided the questions I asked. She asked if I wanted a 2nd opinion and a referral to see a specialist, but I’ve never had any other contact from anyone since. She did bloods and put me on Celecoxib, a Pfizer manufactured drug that acts as a painkiller and anti-inflammatory.

I had noticed I was thirstier after my Booster vaccine, my bowel motions were more inconsistent, I was urinating a lot and also drinking more. The bloods the GP did do, showed I was borderline pre-diabetic and had higher Cholesterol levels. I was shocked, I have never been at risk of diabetes.

I decided to request all my medical notes and find a doctor with a more holistic approach. I was very happy with our first appointment; she was very thorough over our zoom appointment and had gone through my medical notes. She diagnosed me with post-vaccine injury, leading to myalgia and arthralgia in the shoulders, arms, hands, and legs along with the associated weakness, fatigue, decreased exercise intolerance, intermittent cognitive difficulties, blurry eyes, and intermittent puritis and added heart effects. She has me doing a symptoms diary while I am on the supplements and following the FLCCC protocol for post-vaccine injury, an anti-inflammatory diet and taking Nigella sativa amongst other recommendations. She also gave me an ongoing plan for down the track, building upon the supplements and alternate therapies already given & I’ll have a follow-up in 4 weeks. I felt validated, heard and on the road to recovery.

Since my injury I know many other work colleagues who are also suffering in silence it seems. My own body feels as if I have not had any power, like when you use hydraulics, I feel I have lost the power and flow through my body that I used to have. I feel instinctively that my blood is thick and no longer flows like it used to.

Telling my story has helped me realise many things. To trust your instincts – I didn’t really want to get these vaccines but did it for the greater good and to keep my job. I have been frustrated and in so much pain, it’s a day-to-day thing now to tackle what life throws at me, taking time to heal and gain a new perspective of where I want my life to go is my priority. I’m just grateful to my integrative holistic doctor, my partner and family that have listened to me, heard my story, and acted on it. I hope this helps anyone out there suffering to come forward, tell their story too and get the help they desperately need.
